Generates a 3d map of a customizable stellar neighborhood with scientifically accurate star types, random star positions,  names, and multiple-star systems. You can change the size of the spherical map, the star density - number of stars per cubic unit, the scale of the model, and how large or small the stars appear. Space is vast, and even stars are tiny compared to the distance between them, so all objects are much larger than to scale. You can filter stars by enabling or disabling the star type in the info panel, which is the only way you'll be able to get that 480 ly radius needed to see a single O-type star.

Move around using WASD, Space, and Shift, and look around with the mouse.  Once the parameters for your star map have been set, press Z to generate the stars. Right click to show/hide the cursor, and left click on stars to get their name & info.

Credits to Wikipedia and Artifexian's handy spreadsheet for the star statistics, as well as the countless Unity forums I had to go through to be able to code this thing.

This is really cool but I wish I could export the star map as json or even use the source code.

I haven't learned how to export/create json files yet as I'm a beginner with Unity, but when I have time I may try to figure it out. For now, I can definitely attach the source code though - and I'm glad you like the program!

Just ask ChatGPT to do it. You can include the source code too. :)
